Friends,

Extermination of Hindus in Bangladesh (erstwhile East Pakistan) had commenced with the Hindu genocide at Noakhali in 1946 and the partition of Indian subcontinent into two dominions of India and Pakistan based on religion has elongated the inhuman suffering only. Thanks to the perpetual anti-Hindu climate in both Islamic dominions of Pakistan and Bangladesh, Islamists have enjoyed supremacy much and hence, have been able to transform the two countries into breeding ground of Islamic terrorism. The worst consequence, in this context, has been mounting minority persecution in both nations. While Hindus have become the worst victim, fate of others including Christians, Buddhists, Muslims (whether Ahmadiyya or liberal) is no more different. While Pakistan is almost devoid of Hindus, Bangladesh is marching fast to the same destiny.

In 1947, Bangladesh (then – East Pakistan) had a Hindu population of 28% but owing to heinous persecutions down the decades it came down to 8.2% in 2014. Through the implementation of Enemy Property (Vested) Act 80 lakh bighas of land has been snatched from Hindus by successive Bangladeshi governments. Sheikh Hasina, through asserting her pledge to annul the same ominous Enemy Properly Act, has betrayed the entire community virtually. Meticulous studies have brought forth startling facts – Awami League controls 44% of Enemy Property while Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) controls 31.7%, Jatiyo Party of Gen. Ershad controls 5.8%, Jamaat-e-Islami controls 4.8%, and others do control 13.5% forcefully.  To be precise, ministers of reigning Awami League cabinet along with party leaders have already created varied records in Hindu persecution.

Only in the city of Dhaka, the lofty, ancient Ramna Kali Temple, worshipped by Hindus across the globe, was defiled and destructed by the barbarous Pakistani army in 1971 during Muktijuddho (War of Liberation for Bangladesh). Contrary to expectations of Hindus in independent Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujib’s government wiped out remnants of destruction through bulldozer and thanks to all these, 22 acre Devottar Property of the Temple is ramshackle; 20.5 acre of it has already been occupied. While one part has been used to make a park, the other part will be used to construct a pleasing Glass Tower. Of 20 bigha Devottar Property belonging to the Dhakeswari National Temple exclusively, 14 bigha land has already been grabbed by the Bangladeshi Government and Islamists. No less than 1500 Hindu temples have been destructed and turned into mere rabbles in the last four decades of Bangladesh while Hindu persecution has been going on without a single check. Between 2001 and 2013, minorities in Bangladesh have faced 20, 000 communal onslaughts leading to the death of 600 minority people at least and grievous injury of above 60, 000 people. Among them, more than 12, 000 people have become invalid permanently. More than lakhs of minority people have got ruined due to recurrent Islamic onslaughts while the amount of loss has crossed one lakh crore taka by now.

Ever since 1947 till date, almost 30 millions (3 crore) of minority Hindus, Buddhists and Christians have been expelled form Bangladesh forcibly. And to blot out all these inhuman acts, riverine Bangladesh is crying loud of alleged scarcity of water in the global arena. Who would judge reprehensible Bangladesh for all these anti-human acts? it is no more a secret that Bangladesh has virtually nationalized pretension along with communalism and terrorism. Again, there is no less to illegal infiltration of Bangladeshis into India, enough to destabilize the entire North-east India and Indian states alongside the international border. If steps are not adopted, the cultural, economic and also social bonhomie in these regions of India would come to a halt or an unimaginable disaster will be witnessed only.

If truth be told, persecution and forcible expulsion of minority communities from the Bangladeshi soil has been the fallout of a grave conspiracy hatched by the indigenous administration there. To put an end to this heinous strategy, Indians would have got to be united and speak in one voice of stern protests. They have to fight alongside refugees and only thus, minorities in Bangladesh would remain secured. While minority people would have security both in terms of their own lives and property, the whole of East India would remain secured also.

We do have the conviction, people cutting across religious, ethnic and political differences would come forth to fortify the struggle alongside us.
